Visitors to Cow Wreck Beach
may wonder how is got its name. In the late 19th century, before the age of plastic, cow
bones were used to make buttons and various other items. A ship laden with cow bones was
wrecked off Anegada's northwest coast, and for years afterwards cow bones were swept
ashore. Here is an aerial picture of Cow Wreck Beach and the reefs surrounding it's
shores. |
